20 Low-Cost Tips for Selling Your Home

We’ve all seen the wonderful home improvement shows on HGTV. However, the way to sell a home in Chico is not the same way you live in it. If you have decided to sell, call me. I will walk through your home and give you tips on what buyers in Chico are looking for. I know what sells. In addition, if you have painted your interior walls a wonderful shade of deep orange, please paint a neutral color over it. 

1. Trim your bushes near the house so they don't block windows and cut down on light.
2. Buy an attractive new doormat.
3. Put a pot of bright flowers (or a small evergreen in winter) on your front porch or entry area.
4. Put a new doorknob on your front door.
5. Put a fresh coat of sealer on your driveway.
6. Edge the grass around walks and trees and prune the trees and bushes so they look neat and tidy.
7. Keep your garden tools out of sight.
8. Be sure kids don't leave their toys laying around outside.
9. Buy a new mailbox.
10. Upgrade your outside lighting with pathway lighting or some spotlights to highlight a nice tree.
11. Use warm, incandescent light bulbs for a homey feel.
12. Polish or replace your house numbers.
13. Clean your gutters and sweep any leaves off the roof.
14. Put out potpourri or burn scented candles.
15. Buy new decorative pillows for the sofa.
16. Buy a flowering plant and put in a window you pass by frequently.
17. Make a centerpiece for your table with fruit or artificial flowers.
18. Replace heavy curtains with sheer ones that let in more light.
19. Buy new towels to display in the bathrooms
20. Put a seasonal wreath on your door.
